As wind farms are being established throughout the country, the Tug Hill Plateau showcases Maple Ridge Wind Farm - the most expansive wind farm in the East. With about 200 plus windmill turbines, the wind farm is a remarkable sight to behold. This modern display of our nation's renewable energy movement is the spotlight for debate among many citizens.

The windmill turbines, due to their profound presence, have no doubt altered the aesthetic look of the region. This alteration has received differing levels of acceptance, although there remains strong support for the overall renewable energy effort. This Wind Farm is capable of generating 322 plus megawatts of electricity that is contributed directly into New York's power grid.

As we move forward with greener power, it is important that we address wildlife and environmental concerns. It is our hope that Wind Power continues to show a net gain in view of our wonderous wildlife and environment.
