Snowmobiling in the Adirondacks Tug Hill Lewis County Region

Snowmobiling

From its meager beginnings in the 1930's, the snowmobile has evolved from vital emergency transport tasks in heavy snow, student pickup for school, travel to town and use in the logging industry, to an advanced machine with exceptional power, control and many comfort features. Combine the snowmobile with the record setting snow climate conditions, trail system and natural beauty of the Tug Hill Region and you have the essentials of a great snowmobile trip. All it takes is you, to experience the fun.

Snow & Trail System

The Tug Hill Region of New York State offers the ride you are looking for. With seven hundred plus miles of trails, many of which are groomed 8-20 feet wide by numerous local Snowmobile Clubs, one can traverse the entire region on the wilderness trails not often experienced by others, especially in the winter months of December through March.

The State of New York, Lewis County, Townships and the individual land owners all work together to offer a massive snowmobiling trail system in the Adirondacks Tug Hill Plateau and surrounding region. Trail care occurs year around with grooming being the biggest winter task while tree trimming and bridge building being the main summer tasks.

Area Snowmobile Clubs and Events

Snowmobile Clubs & Associations play a vital role with snowmobiling. Members donate thousands of hours to the love of the sport and the overall goals. Colaboration within groups, between clubs, along with close communication with local, regional, state officials and local businesses are all very important components of the Clubs and Associations success. Membership and participation on all levels is very helpful. Clubs, Associations and Local Businesses also work together on offering fun snowmobile related events like Old Dog Days, a snowmoble show for vintage sleds.
