Downhill Skiing on Tug Hill

Based on rock drawings, skiing dates back 4 to 5 thousand years. Althought the technology has greatly changed, the thrill has not.

Stritegically located in the the lake effect snow belt from Lake Onterio, the Snow Ridge Ski Resort offers top notch downhill skiing and snowboarding in the foot hills of Tug Hill, over looking the Black River Valley. This area of Lewis County recieves an average snow fall of 225+ inches during the snow season (that is slightly over 19 feet of snow, about the hieght of 2 stories of a building). The average high temperature is about 32 degrees Fahrenheit with an average low temperature of about 12 degrees Fahrenheit for the months of December, January, February & March. Tug Hill is claimed by some, as having the heaviest snow fall east of the Rockies. It should be noted that, the The highest recorded yearly snowfall for the area was 346.1 inches (or 28 feet of snow). With this snow fall and the option of man-made snow, Snow Ridge is often able to boost exquesite trail conditions.

With about twenty-two trails and six lifts, ranging from the Bunny Bowl to expert options, we are confident that Snow Ridge has a trail for you and your friends. Snow Ridge PSIA certified instructors offer leasons to both skiers and snowboarders. Individuals of all ages may get beginner lessons or brush up on new techniques.
