With the abundance and variety of fish in the waters of Lewis County, the tough decision an avid fisherman needs to make is deciding where to throw a line. The lakes, ponds rivers and streams in the region provide some of the best fishing opportunities in the north country for trout, bass, pike, perch, bullhead and many other varieties. From the novice to expert, young or old, everyone can find that special spot where the fish are biting. The fishing chart to the right is a partial listing of Lewis County fishing waters. Please refer to the NYS Fishing Regulation Guide for restrictions on lakes and backwater ponds not included in this list.

Fishing access enhances is available along the rivers, with brook, brown and rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, tiger muskies, chain pickerel and walleyes found in different reaches of the Black, Beaver and Oswegatchie (West Branch) Rivers. Fishing is popular in Lake Bonaparte too, since trophy bass, pike and brown trout are often caught in these waters.
