A performance by Cara is scheduled for Saturday, March 6. Cara is a new breeze in Irish music. “ …it is the clarity of their musical expression that makes them stand out.” (Sing Out!) Tickets cost $18 advance/$22 door. You might not expect Germany to be a powerhouse of Celtic music. In fact, Cara can hold their heads up very high to any band from Ireland, or any other Celtic nation. They can handle traditional styles perfectly; while at the same time adding a nicely updated “now” sound to the music. Their female lead singers are perfectly matched to each other, and the fresh original material is unique while at the same time “stay in your mind catchy.” The band magically weaves together flute, guitar, piano, fiddle, pipes and bodhran. Lewis County Historical Society Concert! Solas
Sunday, March 21, Solas is scheduled to perform at the Beaver River Central School auditorium. Cost for this concert is $20 advance/$25 door – Reserved seating. Since its birth in 1996, Solas has been loudly proclaimed as the most popular, influential, and exciting Celtic band to ever emerge from the United States. Even before the release of its first Shanachie DC, the Boston Herald trumpeted the quartet as “the first truly great Irish band to arise from America”, and the Irish Echo ranked Solas among the “ most exciting bands anywhere in the world.” Since then, the praise has only grown louder. The Philadelphia Inquirer said they make “ mind blowing Irish folk music, maybe the world’s best.” The New York Times praised their “ unbridled vitality, “the Washington Post dubbed them one of the “world’s finest Celtic-folk ensembles” and the Austin American Statesman called them “the standard by which contemporary Celtic groups are judged.” Call the Lewis County Historical Society at 376-8597 for more info.

Lewis County Historical Society Concert! Buskin and Batteau
Buskin and Batteau will appear Saturday, March 27. Buskin and Batteau began in earnest when folk legend Tom Rush, in a truly titanic misjudgment, invited David Buskin and Robin Batteau to be his backup band – with David on piano, guitar and vocals, Robin on vocals, violin, guitar and mandolin, and the Mighty Mighty Marshal Rosenberg on percussion. Chaos reigned. Hotel rules were tightened across America. And then suddenly, without warning B & B went out on their own. Call the Lewis County Historical Society at 376-8597 for more info.
